Fingerlicious Vegan all great meals begin with vegetables

The Fingerlicious Kitchen

The Fingerlicious Kitchen is the affctionate name for my new playground where I am the culinary creative exploring the boundaries between pulses, nuts and vegetables.

Food has never been my thing

I imagine my mother’s squeals of delight on learning that her daughter is happily playing in the kitchen. She tried earnestly for 32 years to get me interested in food, before she threw her hands up in despair knowing that she would have to focus her attention on feeding people who wanted to eat. My mother was a wiz in the kitchen, her food was legendary, people still speak about it 23 years after her passing.

I spent most of my life in a a love hate relationship with food. I loved to hate it and would quite literally avoid it at every opportunity.  My dislike for food was well known and the great thing is, this got me out of eating at other people’s houses because everyone knew Carole didn’t eat.

Fast forward to an encounter with God and the Daniel Fast and here I am honing my creative cooking skills and developing a realtionship with vegetables (well at least I’m trying)!

I’m amazed and surprised

Sometimes I hear myself talking about food, vegetables and plant based eating and I am amazed, particularly as I don’t like vegetables,  if I didn’t know me better I could quite easily think I was a foodie.

But the truth is I’m not! I simply love the fact that I can take a variety of  ingredients blend them together with a bit of spice and a touch of seasoning and voila there is a delicious masterpiece waiting for me to eat and share with others. Well that’s how I’m choosing to look at it!

Spending more time in the kitchen, instead of the occasional visit, has highlighted my need to be more organised and acquire more tools and equipment. Who knew that cooking needs tools!

My idea of shopping is cruising baking and cooking aisles for new tools to add to my toolkit.

The Fingerlicious Kitchen has become central to my life (I never thought I would ever say that) and is so much more than just a place with pots and pans. It is my go to place when my creative juices are flowing and I want to try my hand at a new dish.  It is my comfort place when the world feels a little overwhelming and I have the taste for an old favourite. It is the place where I sprinkle a little love to share with others.

I am having lots of culinary adventures in the Fingerlicious Kitchen and I’d like to invite you to come on this adventure with me.

Come into my kitchen
