Be the rainbow in someone's cloud

Rainbow in the clouds!

Be the rainbow in someone's cloud

I was recently reminded of some of the powerful and poignant words of the late Dr Maya Angelou as I walked along the corridor of Lewisham Hospital South London. As I walked towards the exit a disabled and deformed woman drove towards me in her motorised wheelchair. As we passed each other I smiled, nodded my head and said “hello”.

What happened next surprised me, although the woman kept on moving another woman I hadn’t noticed previously stopped me and hugged me saying “thank you so much, Sofia has been saying hello to everyone she passed today and no one replied to her until you, you made Sofia’s day” And Sofia made my day too I kept on smiling for the rest of the day and even now when I think about it I feel happy and the most powerful message of it all was the simple fact that it cost me nothing, I was simply being myself and all of that made a huge difference in someone else’s life.

A lesson to us all

Being you is the most powerful person you can be and who knows just being you could make the difference in someone else’s life. Today add this to your to do list. Be you and purposefully connect with the people in your world.

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud” Maya Angelou
